Magickal Handcrafting

Instructor: Phoenix_in_PA
Contact at: lmdeb3326@yahoo.com

This is not a “cookbook” type class, wherein you are handed a bunch of “recipes” with a list of ingredients and directions on how to put them together. There will be craft projects listed throughout the course, however we will also cover basic crafting techniques and how to use those techniques for creating “Magickal Items” for use in Ritual and Spell Work. In other words we will also be covering things like working with clay, fabric, plaster, wood, and so on…as well as things like magickal intent, empowering, and use of crafted items in ritual and spell work.

Pre-requisites
None - This class is for anyone who is interested in creating their own magickal items, regardless of their previous crafting experience. Those who have never crafted anything… ever… are just as welcome as those who have been crafting all of their lives, as is everyone else in between.

Required Supplies:
An open mind, imagination, creativity and the desire to get messy!

You will not be required to complete any of the projects listed in this course for a grade! Though I cannot imagine why you would want to take a craft class and not at least try a few projects. So with that in mind here is a short list of recommended supplies….

Recommended Supplies:
Things you might want to have around for completing some of the projects are…*Basic Craft Supplies, such as pencils, markers, glue, tape, scissors, sewing needles, etc. *Basic Household Tools, such as hammer, screwdrivers, pliers, etc. * Nature Finds (like, rocks, twigs, leaves, feathers…) Recyclables: (like containers, newspaper, jars, cans…) and cleaning supplies (rags, paper towels, old clothes or apron….crafting is a messy process) And of course, yarn, string, beads, glitter and such could be used in many things as well.

Again, these are only recommendations; you will not be required to craft anything to be graded. So what exactly will be required of you for this class?

Requirements:
Reading Assignments and Quizzes: There will be reading assignments for each section of this class, regarding basic crafting techniques and crafting for magickal purposes. There will be a brief quiz at the end of each lesson on the information given in the reading assignment.
Informal Writing Assignments and Class Participation: I will from time to time, ask for your thoughts, ideas, and/or input, via the class forum and/or journal.

Final Exam:
There will be a final exam given at the end of this course.

Grading Breakdown:
Quizzes and Informal Writing Assignments: count for 75% of your grade.
Final Exam: will count for 25% of your grade.

Tutorial Services:
Instructor is available for any questions; so don't be afraid to ask them.
