Board Meeting April 21, 2005

This was our first "official" and fully open Board Meeting for the corporation that is The Pagan Online Campus. In attendance was:

The meeting began late due to outside problems affecting several people.

Athrawon called the meeting to order at 8:56 pm.

First on the agenda was the election of Ariel and Angeleyz to the Board of Directors. Athrawon made the nomination that the Board accept the will of the membership of the Campus and accept Ariel and Angeleyz onto the Board of Directors. Lady of the Harvest seconded and the vote was unanimous in favour. Ariel and Angeleyz were welcomed to the Board of Directors.

Second on the agenda was the acceptance of the bylaws. General discussion among the Board and Members ensued and items were clarified. These included:

Athrawon made a motion to accept the Bylaws in their entirety, with the understanding that they may be amended in the future as accorded by Article 7 of the Bylaws. BlackSerpent Nightshade seconded and the vote was unanimous in favour.

It was decided that the election of officers of the Board should be tabled until a later date.

Discussion was brought up by Kaiser about what we should do if someone wanted to teach a Christian course on the Campus. It was decided that if the person wishing to instruct such a class would be accepted as long as they were tolerant of the beliefs of others.

Athrawon excused himself at 9:22 pm to return to a personal situation. Angeleyz, BlackSerpent Nightshade and Lady of the Harvest made the quorum.

Minors and the Campus was discussed. Questions were brought up regarding the efficiency of the site to filter out minors wishing to take classes without parental permission. The member's birthdates they place on the registration form is recorded in the database and there are multiple references to minors taking classes requiring parental permission on the site. Angeleyz suggested that because the information regarding minors is referenced and a reasonable attempt is made to restrict minors from taking classes without permission, that any requirements had been met by the site.

The discussion was brought up regarding teachers taking breaks or sabbaticals from their classes. Lady of the Harvest agreed that teachers need to be able to take a break to either redo their classroom or simply to re-energize. She also brought up the possibility of not having every class taught each Quarter so that the teachers can teach only when there are enough students to take a class. This also would give that teacher a break or allow them to take classes themselves.

A question was brought up regarding the possibility of the Campus providing a degree program for Wicca or and order of classes to take. Lady of the Harvest replied that at this time it was not arranged that way, but there were some classes that did require pre-requisites prior to taking that class.

Lady of the Harvest brought up a suggestion of a newletter for the Campus; one that would be online but able to be printed in order to be placed in local shops. This was met by approval from the members.

At 9:51 pm Lady of the Harvest made the motion to adjourn. BlackSerpent Nightshade seconded the motion and the meeting was adjourned.
